A nursing home, skilled nursing facility (SNF), or skilled nursing unit (SNU), also known as a rest home, provides a type of care of residents: it is a place of residence for people who require constant nursing care and have significant deficiencies with activities of daily living.

హాస్పిటల్స్ / నర్సింగ్ హోమ్స్ రకాలు (Types of Nursing Homes/Hospitals):
క్లినిక్స్ : ఇక్కడ ఒకే డాక్టర్ ఉంటారు . వారికి సహాయకులు గా కంపుండర్ , నర్సు , రూమ్‌ బోయ్ కొన్నిచోట్ల ఉంటారు . వచ్చిన పేసెంట్లకు సలహాలు , తగిన మందులు ప్రిస్క్రైబ్ చేస్తారు. అవుట్ పేసెంటు విభాగము మాత్రమే ఉంటుంది. ఇన్‌-పేసెంటు కోసం మంచాలు తదితర సదుపాయాలు ఉండవు . సాధారణము గా పర్భుత్వ హాస్పిటల లో పనిచేసే వైద్యులు సాయాంకాలము ఇటువంటి క్లినిక్స్ పెడుతూ ఉంటారు.
మోనో నర్సింగ్ హోమ్స్ (mono nursing homes) : ఇక్కడ ఒకే డాక్టర్ ఉంటారు . తనే యజమాని , మెడికల్ ఆఫీషర్ . అవుట్ పేసెంటు , ఇన్‌-పేసెంటు విభాలు ఉంటాయి. సాధారణము గా 10 లోపు మంచాలు + సంబంధిత సదుపాయాలు ఉంటాయి. కొన్నిచోట్ల ICU , ICCU ఉండవు . రెండు లేక మూడు షిఫ్టు లలో కంపుడర్లు , నర్సులు , వార్డు బోయ్ లు ఉంటారు. కొంతమందికి మినీ ఆపరేషన్‌ థియేటర్ , డెలివరీ రూము (labour room) కూడా ఉంటాయి. ఇక్కడ ఉండే డాక్టర్ తన స్పెషాలిటీ సంబంధిత వైద్య విధానాన్ని ప్రాక్టిస్ చేస్తూ ఉంటారు. పూర్తిగా ప్రవేటు సెక్టర్ కు చెందిన వైద్యవిధానము .
